RAF Lakenheath put in lockdown as security team rushes to vehicle ‘trying to gain entry’ | UK | News

An airbase in Suffolk has been put on lockdown after a man tried to get in without identification.
Security staff at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk responded quickly just before 8am today after a man allegedly attempted to gain entry without the required “correct identification”.
A representative from the airbase said: “A person attempted to enter RAF Lakenheath through Gate 2 without appropriate identification.
“The gate barriers were opened and security forces worked quickly to prevent the vehicle from entering the facility.”
RAF Lakenheath is owned by the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) but leased to and operated by the United States Air Force (USAF).
Appears to be hosting only at the moment United States Air Force (USAF) units and military personnel. It is also home to the 48th Fighter Wing, also known as the “Freedom Wing,” which operates F-15E Strike Eagles and F-35A Lightning II aircraft.
