Our Fashion Editor HANNAH SKELLEY tried on the new Gap x Victoria Beckham collection. Here’s what she’s buying

If you let Gap leave your shopping list, you may want to add it back.
Because today, the highly anticipated collaboration with Spice-Girl-turned-designer Victoria Beckham is being launched.
You’re more likely to find her respected luxury brand at Paris Fashion Week than on the High Street. Although instead of his signature masculine tailoring and slinky evening gowns, this 38-piece collection focuses on elegant wardrobe building blocks.
The fashion pack calls them ‘basic’, but these stylish upgraded staples are anything but.
Mark Breitbard, Gap’s chairman and chief executive, says: ‘We wanted to work with Victoria because of her iconic influence in the fashion world. But this partnership feels truly authentic and that’s where the magic happens.’
It truly is magic. Each piece carries Beckham’s polished timeless touch. Think perfectly boxy, chunky white T-shirts with a retro Gap logo on the chest (£30). Thin barrel stand jeans dark indigo, white and medium blue (£85) – I’m not kidding when I say I really want to buy all three.

They’re beige and khaki cargo pants, but these aren’t just any old utility trousers.
These come with deep thigh pockets as well as slim hip pockets, a faux waist belt (so no buckle protrusion) and a cross-button closure (£95) that usefully cinches your waist.
There’s also a skirt of the same type in these neutral colors (£85).

I’ve put my romper-wearing days on hold in favor of separates and tracksuits, but VB’s ultra-flattering navy slides down your torso, cinching your midsection and creating a slight balloon-leg effect along the leg that balances your upper half (£95).
I am 5ft 9in and the length was perfect. Magic again. We just need more colors please!

But the real heroes are in the outerwear department. The sky blue technical funnel neck jumper will meet all your spring jacket needs (£95).
It’s like a slightly heavier khaki parka that would work well at the school gates, supermarket, football pitch or even fashion week (£130) – I suspect this will sell out within a few hours.

While the priciest item was the £250 trench coat (it was worth it due to its sophisticated shape and high cut, making me feel like a million bucks), Victoria Beckham’s beige funnel-neck Philippa iteration from her own line would set you back. £1,590.

Most products in GAP’s VB range range in price from £25 to £100. Not only do all these pieces feature Beckham’s clever design sophistication, above all, this luxury high street collaboration is amazing value.
And they are worth the investment. My 30-year-old peers and I are already fawning over it — but so is my mom. Each piece feels completely timeless.
Plus it’s a multi-season partnership, which means more VB high street jewels coming soon…
But act quickly at the first drop, especially with outerwear. you don’t wannabe This time he was left in the cold.
