UK pub collapses into liquidation – closed earlier in April | UK | News

The company behind a beloved bar in Norfolk that closed its doors earlier this month has gone into liquidation. It has been revealed that TWM Norfolk Limited, the company that runs The Queens Head in Wymondham, has gone into voluntary liquidation following the appointment of liquidators.
The pub’s husband-and-wife owners, Nick and Victoria Anderson, cited rising renovation costs and staffing issues as reasons for the closure. Ms Anderson said the business became unsustainable after tensions between owners and kitchen staff escalated and the costs of emergency repairs escalated.
“It was a perfect storm of problems,” he said.
He added: “Issues with kitchen staff, rising refurbishment costs and people buying less. “We’ve had to carry out emergency repairs to keep the pub safe and have run into more problems.
“We also lost our basement cooling system, and then our central heating system and costs started going up.” Eastern Daily Press reported.
“Everything was positive at Christmas but I noticed a change in people’s buying habits, people were spending less. “We tried to move forward by simplifying the menu whilst retaining the flavour.
“The kitchen initially agreed, then they refused and the relationship began to deteriorate.”
He added that all staff at the Queens Head were paid.
Richard Cacho, of RCM Advisory Limited, based in Norwich, was appointed liquidator on 21 April, according to a notice published on The London Gazette website.
Plans to renovate the pub on Bridewell Street were given the green light by South Norfolk Council last year. Renovation work began earlier this year with scaffolding installed outside.
According to Google Reviews, the pub has a rating of 4.8 out of five, with reviews praising the portion size and “excellent staff”. One wrote: “Great main courses, extremely generous portions for such quality food.”
This follows the liquidation of a UK tire garage business that had been operating for almost 30 years. In a notification London Gazette It announced that Essex-based Loughton Tires had appointed liquidators earlier this month. The announcement was published on the evening of 15 April, with the appointment of Ninos Koumettou and Constantinos Pedhiou as joint liquidators. There is no word at this stage on how many jobs may be affected by the decision.
