Rudy Giuliani ‘alert and talking’ as he fights back from grim diagnosis that left him hospitalized

The Daily Mail has revealed that Rudy Giuliani was well enough to talk to his relieved children on Monday night while battling pneumonia in a Florida hospital.
A well-placed source said the 81-year-old former New York City Mayor is breathing on his own after being taken off the ventilator and is able to communicate with Caroline and Andrew Giulliani.
The couple rushed to Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Plam Beach after their ailing father was brought to the hospital for treatment in a critical but stable condition on Sunday night.
Democratic voter Caroline (40) clashed with ‘America’s Mayor’ over his staunch support for President Donald Trump, who endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election.
But the California-based activist filmmaker put aside their political disagreement to be at the veteran cop and lawyer’s bedside on Monday as he made a slow but encouraging recovery.
Also on hand was Andrew, a 40-year-old former professional golfer who worked for Trump during his first term and now heads the White House’s 2026 World Cup task force.
The source emphasized that Giuliani’s condition is serious and that he may spend a few more days at the resort on the Florida coast, a five-minute drive from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.
The former New York City mayor contracted pneumonia on Sunday, which hospitalized him. His condition was reported to be critical.

On Friday night, he hosted a livestream on his Facebook page where he could be heard coughing.
John Catsimatidis, the billionaire supermarket and media mogul and longtime friend of Giuliani, said he received the encouraging news Monday afternoon from a former close aide.
‘He’s talking, he’s awake. To me, this is great news,” Catsimatidis said, according to the New York Post.
President Trump praised Giuliani as the ‘True Warrior’ as well as ‘by far the best mayor in the history of New York City.’
“Rudy had a rough weekend,” Giuliani’s business partner, Tom von Essen, previously said.
Von Essen served as New York City Fire Commissioner during the September 11 terrorist attacks, when Giuliani was mayor.
“Today is an important day,” he added.
‘Mayor Rudy Giuliani is recovering from pneumonia. Giuliani’s spokesman, Ted Goodman, confirmed that on September 11, Mayor Giuliani ran toward the towers to help those in need, which later led to a diagnosis of restrictive airway disease.
‘This condition adds complications to any respiratory disease and the virus quickly covers his body, requiring mechanical ventilation to maintain adequate oxygen and stabilize his condition.’
President Trump called Giuliani a ‘True Warrior’ in a post on Truth Social on Sunday
The 81-year-old man hosted a livestream on his Facebook page on Friday night where he could be heard coughing.
As the speech began he said: ‘My voice is a bit bad, so I won’t be able to speak as loudly as usual.’
Giuliani famously campaigned alongside Trump and a group of Republicans to overturn the 2020 election results, citing unsubstantiated fraud that left him open to defamation lawsuits, which he later settled in court.
‘Mayor Rudy Giuliani was the most transformative figure in the history of NY City politics,’ former FBI deputy director Dan Bongino wrote.
‘In a relatively short time he performed an economic and public security miracle and the city rose from the dead. I worked for the NYPD at the end of his second term. “This was the honor of a lifetime.”
Lately, Giuliani has mostly addressed comments comedian Jimmy Kimmel made before the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Kimmel joked that Melania Trump was “shining like a widow in waiting,” sparking outrage from the first lady and the White House in the wake of the shooting.
Giuliani also threw in his two cents, calling Kimmel an “incompetent idiot,” to which Kimmel responded by saying Giuliani had “risen from the grave to weigh in on the ongoing drama.”

In November of last year, Giuliani was pardoned by Trump, along with other Republicans, for his role in trying to overturn the election against President Biden.
The former NYC mayor gave the infamous speech outside his Four Seasons landscaping business in Pennsylvania as Trump desperately tried to reclaim the presidency.
Giuliani filed for bankruptcy in 2023, owing a staggering $153 million to creditors, including two Georgia election workers he denigrated.
Giuliani was elected mayor of New York in 1993 after serving as one of the nation’s most high-profile prosecutors, battling mobsters and crooked Wall Street traders.
He has been celebrated for a large-scale crackdown on crime using the ‘broken windows’ philosophy and the controversial stop-and-frisk programme.
Giuliani ran for the Senate in 2000 but dropped out of the race against Hillary Clinton after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
After running for president in 2008, he left and supported John McCain.
