Man who sprayed Ilhan Omar with vinegar to plead guilty on federal charge

The Minneapolis man who sprayed Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., with vinegar during a town hall in January is changing his plea to guilty on federal charges stemming from the incident.
Anthony James Kazmierczak’s attack on Omar comes weeks after Renee Good was killed by an ICE agent, raising tensions between federal officials and Democratic state leaders to an all-time high. Democratic leadership has called for federal agents to leave Minnesota.
In March, Kazmierczak pleaded not guilty to a federal charge of assaulting a U.S. officer, but in April, a court filing filed by his attorney, John Fossum, stated that Kazmierczak would change his plea to guilty after “reaching an agreement” with federal prosecutors. Kazmierczak’s change of plea hearing will be held on May 7.
The exact details of the settlement are unknown. Fox News Digital has reached out to Kazmierczak’s attorney for comment.

Video of the Jan. 27 town hall showed Kazmierczak running to the stage as Omar spoke. He called for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to resign and for ICE agents to leave Minnesota.
He pulled out a syringe filled with apple cider vinegar and water and attempted to pour the liquid on the congressman before an officer intervened.
“He’s not resigning,” Kazmierczak said in the video, referring to then-Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Kazmierczak also pointed his finger at Omar and shouted, “You are dividing Minnesotans.”
Omar was uninjured and continued to the town hall after Kazmierczak’s arrest.

“I’m okay. I’m a survivor, so this little agitator can’t stop me from doing my job. I don’t let bullies win. I’m grateful to my incredible voters who have rallied behind me. Minnesota is strong” Omar he wrote in a post in X at the time.

Kazmierczak has been detained since the incident. The magistrate ruled that the “extremely serious and dangerous circumstances” surrounding the assault allegations made it impossible to ensure public safety would not be compromised if Kazmierczak was granted bail.
During the investigation, an FBI agent interviewed an associate of Kazmierczak, who claimed that Kazmierczak once said “someone had to kill” Omar.
