Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘try to blame others’ for Netflix failure | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “trying to blame others” for the failure of their Netflix collaboration, royal experts have claimed. The Royalist’s Tom Sykes talks about Harry and Meghan’s Netflix deal with Variety Magazine’s chief Royalist correspondent Matt Donnelly podcast.
Summing up the conversation, Skyes said: “He told me how the Sussex team were ‘trying to take the blame’ for some of the failures that had occurred on their watch. He said top talent didn’t want to work with them because they didn’t need ‘an additional layer of headache’.”
Speaking on the show, Matt Donnelly said: “Netflix has focused on Meghan and Harry in a way they don’t do most creatives, and with that comes a lot of visibility and truth about how they work creatively. The final verdict is that they’re a bit tiresome and what that partnership has produced isn’t very meaningful.”
He then went on to discuss the issue of top talent not wanting to work with Harry and Meghan, with Matt adding: “I can definitely see talent not wanting an added layer of headache. They’re a highly scrutinized couple and the press around them is bad press. That could be a curse on how they’re covered!”
The Chief Correspondent also added that Harry and Meghan’s views on influencing and touching materials and projects could be seen as “too invasive”.
Matt added: “If you’re coming on board to partner with someone who’s a huge, prolific film and television producer, do you really want to get humor, ideas and feedback from people outside of that space?”
After the contract expired last summer, it was replaced by a “first look deal” that gave Netflix first access to new shows proposed by Meghan and the Duke of Sussex.
Speaking of what Harry and Meghan might have done differently, Matt said: “Initially, Meghan and Harry had similar intentions (towards the Obamas). They wanted to take their core ideals as a couple and map them across content. At the time, it seemed more achievable than it seemed.”
In early April, Harry and Meghan attended a private, star-studded party hosted by Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
Many celebrities attended the event, including Beef season 2 stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan and Charles Melton.
A few days after the report, Harry and Meghan announced they would co-produce a polo drama series for Netflix through their company Archewell Productions.
