Police have confirmed that the woman and child killed in a “tragic incident” in a park in Ealing were mother and son.

A 34-year-old woman and a 7-year-old child died after “difficulties in the water” in Elthorne Park yesterday (Saturday, April 25), the Metropolitan Police said. The force also said their deaths were not suspicious.

A police spokesman said Keen had been briefed and was supported by specialist police officers.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Further investigation into the incident by officers has revealed that it was a tragic accident and unfortunately the deaths of the woman and child who lost their lives are being treated as a non-suspicious incident.

“We can confirm that they are a mother and son, aged 34 and aged 7. Their relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialist police.

“This is understandably an incredibly difficult time for them and they have requested that their privacy be respected.”
