Cheryl Hines details the terrifying moment she and her husband, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., were rushed from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after apparent gunshots were heard.
“Well, I just got back from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. It was a crazy moment,” Hines said. Instagram Stories.
“We were there and we heard gunshots, everyone went under the tables, nobody knew what happened, and then Bobby’s security team surrounded us and picked us up, he had to lift me over the chairs because I had heels and a dress on,” she added. “They took us through all the back roads and we got in the car and off we went.”

Shortly after, Hines made another update on social media.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out to ask if we’re okay and we are. I’m watching the news in my pajamas right now, just like you, but stay safe everyone.”
Chaos broke out at the event Saturday night when armed suspect Cole Allen was reported. raided security checkpoint and we opened fire.

President Donald Trump was immediately rushed from the ballroom at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Video taken from inside the event showed attendees hiding under tables as panic spread throughout the room.
The moment carried added weight for many attendees whose lives had already been shaped by political violence, including Trump, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and TPUSA CEO Erika Kirk.

“The people who make the biggest impact are [shooters] “They don’t go after people who don’t do much, because they like it that way,” Trump said at a White House news conference late Saturday evening.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is President John F. Kennedy’s nephew, was quickly escorted out of the room on Saturday, an HHS official told Fox News Digital. His family history is closely linked to two tragic assassinations.

Trump praised law enforcement at a White House news conference late Saturday, saying there was “an incredible response” to the situation by the Secret Service and law enforcement.
“[The suspect] There was a long way to go. This was truly the first line of defense. And they caught him. “And they’ve been really, you know, incredible,” he continued.

The armed suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen from California, was taken into custody.
