High street store launches 75% off sale as chain closes 645 stores | World | News

A major grocery chain will close 645 stores across the United States as part of a companywide consolidation effort.
7-Eleven is currently going through a liquidation process with major sales occurring at its stores.
At least 645 7-Eleven locations in North America will be closed in fiscal 2026, according to a report from C-Store Dive.
Among those affected is a well-known store in Penacook, New Hampshire, on the northern outskirts of Concord.
The branch will close its doors on May 20 after the building is purchased by its new owner.
The closures form part of the company’s broader long-term strategy to open larger, food-focused sites.
The Thirty Pines store in Penacook has already begun reducing prices to clear remaining inventory before closing.
According to a local news outlet, a sign posted outside the store on Tuesday morning advertised a 50 percent discount on most items.
By the afternoon, discounts had already increased to 75 percent.
The store commemorated its loyal customers with a heartfelt note near its entrance that read: “It has been an honor to serve this community. To be a part of your daily routines, your conversations, and your lives.
“Every interaction meant more than you thought possible. Thank you for being more than just customers.
“You became a part of our story,” he continued.
Despite the wave of closures, the grocery chain has ambitious plans to open 1,300 new stores between 2025 and 2030. This represents the fifth consecutive year that 7-Eleven has closed more stores than it has opened.
