Body of Indigenous man recovered from Northern Territory waters

A local man who disappeared while swimming in the Darwin River has been found dead, prompting a police investigation.

The man, who has not yet been officially identified, was swimming at a beach near Rapid Creek last night and was spotted by locals before disappearing.

Search and rescue workers, along with NT emergency services, searched for the man lost in the waters.

Public officials assisted officers in the search operation and the body was found on Friday evening.

Police reported that the investigation into the death is ongoing.

They asked the public to contact police or Crime Stoppers with any information.
