Iran ‘executes two Israeli spies by hanging’ as fears of new Middle East war soar | World | News

Iranian state media claimed that two Israeli spies were executed by hanging as tensions escalated in the Middle East.

Tehran’s regime-controlled media claimed that two spies, Yacub Karimpour and Naser Bakarzadeh, were killed for “the crime of intelligence cooperation and espionage in favor of the Zionist regime and the Mossad intelligence service.”

They added: “Nasser Bakarzadeh also collected the identities of important government, religious and state figures on the orders of the Mossad officer, accessed key centers such as the Natanz district, and sent them to the service’s agent.”

The executions were not confirmed by the Israeli government.

The claim came as the President of the United States Donald Trump He announced that the war in Iran had been “ended”.

His statement came 60 times after the war began on February 28. The War Powers Act of 1973 states that a president can deploy troops to respond to an “imminent threat” but must receive congressional approval within 60 days to resume military operations.

Trump added: “I ordered a 2-week ceasefire on April 7, 2026,” the letter, addressed to Republican House speaker Mike Johnson and Republican senator Chuck Grassley, the Senate president pro tempore, continues.

“The ceasefire has been extended since then. There has been no conflict between US Forces and Iran since April 7, 2026. The conflicts that started on February 28, 2026 have ended.”
