U.P. man jailed over ‘I love Muhammad’ post secures bail

The Allahabad High Court granted bail to a man who was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police last year for allegedly sharing a post on Instagram that read “I Love Muhammad”.
While granting bail to accused Nadeem on Monday, Justice Rajiv Lochan Shukla observed that “the applicant does not have any criminal background” and “has not named any caste or community” in the post.
The accused, who was jailed on October 7 last year, had approached the court seeking bail in connection with an FIR registered at a police station in Muzaffarnagar. His lawyer argued that he was mistakenly included in the case and that it was unlikely to be concluded in the near future.
