Krishna Gana Sabha’s theatre fest begins

Krishna Gana Sabha on Saturday honored veteran theater artiste, director and writer ‘appa’ Ramesh, who has performed over 7,500 times with the Nataka Choodamani Award. It also gave the following powers: My Iyakkunar Cigarette The K. Balachander Award was given to theater actor and historian Karthik Bhatt for his 400 stage performances. The awards were presented during the opening of the Sabha Summer Theater Festival, which will feature nine plays on weekends until May 24.

Actor and former Member Secretary Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Mandram, Sachu appreciated the fact that it is the amateurs who shine in the skies of Tamil theatre. “There was a time when plays were filmed and actors moved from theater to cinema. Now I don’t see anything like that. We thought that amateurs were not serious about acting and theater. But it is not like that. Now they are the ones standing up.”
