Florida man threatens beachgoers with drill after deck chair dispute, tasered by police

A man who allegedly threatened beachgoers with a large drill during a bizarre confrontation over sun loungers on a Florida beach has been shot with a stun gun and arrested.
50-year-old Yacov Levi was detained after the incident in front of the luxury Surfside apartment building, where the price of properties ranged from approximately $1.3 million to $27 million, according to local sources. WPLG.
Authorities said Levi became “irritable” after being told he couldn’t sit on a privately owned beach chair because he didn’t live there.
Levi allegedly stripped naked before “attacking” beachgoers with an umbrella and then allegedly grabbed a large drill and made threats such as “I’ll kill you”.
Eyewitnesses told New York Post They saw him running along the shore carrying the tool usually used to drill holes in the sand to make umbrellas.
Police body camera footage shows officers confronting Levi at gunpoint as he sits on one of the chairs that led to the incident.
In the footage, a police officer can be heard saying, “We caught him at gunpoint,” while another police officer warns, “Raise your hands, otherwise you will be shocked.”
Officers then used a stun gun to control the situation.
According to court records reported by the prosecutor’s office Daily MailLevi was charged with attempted aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery on a law enforcement officer and criminal mischief.
Footage of the incident later went viral, with some social media users claiming the tool seen was an auger rather than a traditional drill.
This isn’t the first time Levi has been alleged to have been involved in a strange incident by the beach.
He was previously arrested in 2023 for allegedly trying to steal a jet ski while naked, but that case was later dropped, according to reports.
