Family pay tribute to ‘wonderful’ teenager killed by fallen tree in park

A family have paid tribute to the “wonderful” young boy who was “tragically and unjustly” killed by a fallen tree in a park on Saturday.
Brodan Dubickas, 15, died at the scene on Stafford Holmcroft Road at 7.30pm while playing in the park with his friends.
His parents and three siblings, Corey, Kayla and Amelia, released a statement through Staffordshire Police on Monday.
“He was truly the best of us. His kindness and generosity were unmatched, he lit up a room with his humor and smile. You won’t find a bad word said about him, he was loved by so many people,” they said of the teenager.

Dubickas loved to play billiards and played competitively four nights a week for Luck Penny or Staffordshire Bull, his family said. He also loved football, playing for the Stafford Falcons and refereeing many weekends.
“He was able to do all of this while prioritizing spending time with his family and friends.”
He was described as a “wonderful big brother” whose three siblings grieved the loss of their eldest brother.
“He was always there for them,” the family said.
“As parents, our lives have been shattered and will never be the same again. The pain is unbearable and the gap left can never be filled. His immense potential will now never be realised, and that in itself is a tragedy.”

“We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, generosity and love sent from far and wide to both the family and Brodan. The tributes have been overwhelming and incredibly touching. It is an honor for our son and shows the impact Brodan was able to have on those around him in his short life. We can only be thankful for that.”
Dubickas’ former school, Tillington Manor Elementary School, paid tribute to its “kind-hearted, respectful” former student on Sunday.
Headteacher Mrs K Brockhurst said: “He was a truly special young man; kind-hearted, respectful and full of warmth. He approached school life with curiosity and determination and his kind nature and positive spirit left a lasting impression on staff and pupils alike.”
“It is incredibly difficult to understand that such a promising life could end so soon, and our entire community is deeply saddened by this loss.”
Ms Brockhurst continued: “Although Brodan has left Tillington Manor, he will always remain a valued part of our school family. “We know that many in our community will feel this loss deeply and our thoughts are with all those who knew and cared for him.
“We will seek to honor and commemorate Brodan in a way that reflects his impact on our school and community and by contacting his family at the appropriate time.”
