Met Gala intruder is tackled by police and security as he attempts to rush the steps as A-listers Kim Kardashian and Beyonce hit the red carpet

A man who entered the Met Gala uninvited was caught by police and security as he tried to rush up the stairs where stars Kim Kardashian and Beyonce walked the red carpet on Monday night.

The man tried to jump over barricades to speed his way through the steps of the star-studded event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

He was wearing a denim jacket, black bandana and sunglasses, and his efforts to get across the red carpet while he was escorted were unsuccessful.

Several NYPD officers restrained him while he was at the entrance to the carpet before entering.

TO! Reporter Zuri Hall described the moment as ‘chaos’ as some interviews on the carpet were interrupted by all the commotion.

It is not known whether this person, whose name has not been disclosed yet, is part of the protests.

Anger surrounded the incident Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos, 62, and his wife Lauren Sanchez, 56, who financed much of the show, were involved.

24 hours before the Met Gala started, activists resorted to disgusting maneuvers as a last resort to boycott.

Baskets containing plastic water bottles were also placed outside the museum, allowing passers-by to urinate into these bottles.

A sign on the stash read: ‘Met Gala VIP restroom. It was founded in honor of Met Gala chairman Jeff Bezos. ‘Go ahead, it’s good enough for his staff.’

The stunt was used to draw attention to Amazon’s treatment of its employees.

Everybody Hates Elon, the campaign group behind the stunt, claims employees at Bezos’ company are being forced to urinate into bottles because they are not allowed to take toilet breaks.

On Sunday, protest messages were projected onto the city’s biggest landmarks, including Bezos’ apartment block as well as the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building.

While one of the projections said ‘Boycott the Bezos Met Gala’, another said ‘No red carpet for Trump’s billionaires’.

Video messages from Amazon employees were also pasted into Bezos’ Fifth Avenue penthouse.

The demonstration was again organized by the anti-billionaire campaign group, funded by 1,000 donors around the world and supported by current and former Amazon employees.

A spokesperson for Everybody Hates Elon said: ‘Amazon founder and oligarch Jeff Bezos has just finished his rooftop pre-Met Gala party and is getting ready for the big night.

‘We couldn’t let him use fame and fashion to hide his crimes. Instead we expose them.’

Amazon previously faced accusations in 2021 that its employees were forced to urinate in bottles.

They said they were aware of the problems at the time.

“We know that motorists can and do experience difficulties finding toilets due to traffic or sometimes rural roads, and this has been particularly true during Covid when many public toilets have been closed,” a spokesman said.

They added that the issue was a ‘long-standing, industry-wide problem’ and that they ‘wanted to resolve it’.

Bezos and Sanchez were announced as honorary co-chairs and lead sponsors of this year’s Met Gala in February.

Some fashionistas think this response, which initially highlights philanthropy, is a stain on the issue.

It was claimed that they spent $10 million to attend the event.

Backlash against this year’s Met Gala began weeks ago, with protest posters plastered across the boarded-up entrance of the now-closed Daona Deli.

The giant posters carried two bold messages. The first showed what appeared to be a plastic water bottle filled with urine on the red carpet in front of flashing camera lights.

The banner said ‘Bezos Met Gala’. ‘Brought to you by worker exploitation.’

The large, bright red poster next to it had an even harsher message written in bold white letters: ‘Bezos Boycott Met Gala.’

At the bottom of the poster, a message was shared in smaller font: ‘Nothing to embellish this.
