Vijay chairs meeting of TVK MLAs after 108-seat victory in Tamil Nadu polls

Chennai: TVK president Vijay on Tuesday paid tribute to the party’s ideological leaders and chaired a meeting of newly elected legislators, a day after the party emerged victorious with 108 seats in the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.He received an enthusiastic welcome from party members and many MPs who, like him, stood for election at TVK headquarters.

An MLA said he had called a meeting of party MLAs to discuss the selection of the party leader in the legislature and his conduct in the Assembly.

Earlier, the TVK chief presented flowers at the headquarters to Periyar EV Ramasamy, BR Ambedkar, K Kamaraj, Velu Nachiyar and Anjalai Ammal, whom he considers as the party’s ideological leaders.


TVK leader Nanjil Sampath said that during the meeting, MLAs will present their victory certificates to the party leader and discuss their strategies to form the government.

“I am confident of a positive outcome and good news can be expected soon,” he said.

While Vijay-led TVK became the largest party by winning 108 seats, DMK and AIADMK won 59 and 47 seats respectively.
