Teen migrant denies raping woman on UK seafront | UK | News

A teenage migrant dragged a young woman to a seaside toilet and raped her after offering her a lift home on his e-bike, a jury heard. It is claimed that Mohammed Abdullah launched the frightening sex attack after the woman became stressed because her phone battery was dead after a night out. The then-18-year-old allegedly acted like a good Samaritan, instead parking next to a portable toilet near the beach before attacking its passenger and forcing him inside.
The Syrian-born immigrant denies rape and assault by penetration in the early hours of July 6, 2025, and claims the woman consented to have sex with him. Prosecutor Mark Eldridge told Bournemouth Crown Court how the alleged victim had gone out with a friend that night, first in Charminster and then at Bar So in the Dorset seaside town.
He told jurors he had a “reasonable amount of drink” and was asked to leave the bar before he and his friend went off in different directions.
However, the prosecutor said that the 20-year-old woman later realized that her phone battery was dead and when she could not call a taxi, she started walking from the seashore towards Boscombe Pier.
He then encountered the defendant and a group of about five people whose phones he asked for help getting directions.
Mr Eldridge said one of the men said the defendant would drive him home on his e-bike, and he accepted the offer.
The defendant, now 19, then walked with her to a row of portable toilets.
A couple walking on the beach saw the defendant approaching with his arms around her waist, with the complainant behind him. But Mr Eldridge told the court they later saw the defendant carrying the woman in front of him with her legs wrapped around his waist.
He said that one of the eyewitnesses called out to the defendant and asked, “What are you doing with him? I hope you don’t do anything,” but then he disappeared.
Mr Eldridge said Abdullah then sexually assaulted the complainant, then forced her into one of the portable toilets and locked the door before raping her there.
Mr Eldridge said: “He was curling up and trying to fight and then he thought it would go faster if he just let it happen.”
He added: “The defendant kissed her aggressively and she pulled away but somehow her lip burst.”
The jury was told that after the alleged attack, the defendant rode away while the complainant “took off her shoes to escape”.
The woman then asked passers-by for help and wanted to use their phones to call her mother, who she said had been raped, before calling the police, the court heard.
Mr Eldridge said a man helping him described him as “looking distressed”.
The complainant later told police: “I remember being pinned to the Portaloo by my back, I remember my leg being lifted, then his hand went up my skirt.
“I thought it would happen quicker if I let it, so I tried to fight it a little bit but I thought I would let it.
“At this point I remember being dragged into the portable toilet, the door being shut and locked, being forced in.”
He added: “I realized he was gone. I came out of the toilet, took off my shoes so I could run. I saw him returning to his friends.”
Mr Eldridge said the defendant, who lived in West Drayton, Middlesex, was arrested and told police in interview that the complainant had consented to both intercourse and sex.
He came to the UK from Syria in 2023 and was granted permanent leave under the family reunification scheme.
He was assisted by an Arabic translator at the hearing and denied all the charges.
The trial continues.
