White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announces birth of daughter Viviana

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday announced the birth of her second child, a daughter named Viviana.

Leavitt announced the good news in a post on X, sharing details about her growing family.

“On May 1, Viviana, aka “Vivi,” joined our family and our hearts instantly exploded with love,” Leavitt wrote. “He is perfect and healthy, and his brother is happily adjusting to life with his new sister.”

“We are enjoying every moment of our happy newborn bubble,” she continued. “Thank you to everyone who reached out to me with their prayers during my pregnancy. I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good.”

Leavitt and her husband, Nick, also have a son, Niko, born in July 2024.

Leavitt was the first pregnant press secretary in U.S. history.

The White House’s purported plan to create a roster of guest hosts for press briefings to replace Leavitt while she is on maternity leave was announced late last month.

Dasha Burns, Politico’s White House bureau chief, posted on social media on April 24 that Leavitt would return to the podium after maternity leave, but “it’s unclear exactly how many weeks.”

“No one will officially replace Leavitt during his leave — but the communications shop plans to have some familiar faces at the podium to brief the press, including Vice President J.D. Vance, Cabinet officials and even Trump himself,” Burns added.
