TVK Holds Crucial Meet of MLAs-designate

Chennai: TVK held an important meeting with the party’s parliamentary candidates here on Thursday to discuss government formation. A large number of newly elected members and also office holders who attended the meeting held in Panaiyur on Thursday evening wanted to know from party general secretary ‘Bussy’ N Anand when TVK will form the government.
“Many people wanted to know from Anand when TVK will form the government. The leader asked them to be patient as party chief Vijay is making all efforts,” said a party source.
TVK Theni district president Pandi said, “The people of Tamil Nadu have given us the authority to form a government under our leader Vijay. This will definitely happen. Our leader is taking steps.” he said. Many predicted that Vijay would be sworn in as the Prime Minister but were dismayed that the event could not take place today.
The meeting took place after the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam failed to secure an absolute majority to form the government. Although 5 Congress MLAs have extended support to TVK, Vijay’s party cannot secure an absolute majority of 118 in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly.
TVK won 108 seats in the Assembly elections held on April 23, including two seats won by Vijay. He must vacate one seat and retain one constituency.
