The US military said it shot down two empty Iranian-flagged oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman on Friday, preventing the ships from entering an Iranian port in violation of a US naval blockade.
A US warplane “disabled both tankers after firing precision munitions into their funnels,” US Central Command said in a statement that included declassified video of both attacks.
The attack was the latest in a series of military actions this week that have further undermined the shattered U.S. ceasefire with Iran, even as President Donald Trump insisted the temporary truce remains in effect.
