One Nation aim to snatch former Liberal Party leader Sussan Ley’s seat in NSW Riverina region; independent Michelle Millthorpe set to fight
There are 12 candidates vying for national attention and the chance to represent Farrer until the 2028 election. But only four have a realistic chance of capturing the seat.
The two main contenders are One Nation’s David Farley, an agricultural worker and irrigation expert from Narrandera, and Michelle Milthorpe, a Climate 200-backed independent, teacher and child sexual assault advocate who came second to Sussan Ley in last year’s general election.
In today’s poll, the Liberals and Nationals are putting forward their candidates, while their Coalition partners are also claiming the seat.
Liberal candidate Raissa Butkowski is an independent member of Albury City Council and a board member of the Murray-Darling Association.
Brad Robertson, senior fellow and chairman of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Center Trust Fund, represents the Nationals.
Other parties in contention include the Greens, Marijuana Legalization, Family First and Shooters, Fishers and Farmers.
