US citizen tests positive for hantavirus: health department

“One passenger currently has mild symptoms and another passenger tested positive for mild PCR for Andean virus,” the Department of Health and Human Services said.
It was stated that both passengers are currently traveling “with extreme caution” in the aircraft’s biocontainment units.

US passengers evacuated from the Spanish Canary Islands, where the ship stopped, will be taken to a special center in the rural state of Nebraska. The person with mild symptoms will be taken to a second center.
On arrival “each person will undergo clinical assessment and receive appropriate care and support based on their condition.”
