AIIMS Bibinagar Conducts Neonatal Resuscitation Workshop for Nurses Across Telangana

Hyderabad: As part of National NRP Day celebrations, a workshop aimed at strengthening neonatal resuscitation skills among healthcare workers was organized at AIIMS Bibinagar on Monday. The basic neonatal resuscitation workshop was conducted by AIIMS Bibinagar College of Nursing in collaboration with the National Neonatology Forum of India, Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Federation of Indian Obstetrics and Gynecology Societies and the Centre.

During the sessions, preparation for birth, routine newborn care, first resuscitation steps, and bag and mask ventilation techniques were explained. Participants were trained through simulation-based skill stations and hands-on demonstrations designed to help healthcare professionals quickly respond to critical neonatal emergencies. The program focused on developing life-saving skills required in neonatal emergencies and was attended by 55 nurses from hospitals across Telangana.

The initiative is part of NNF India’s nationwide campaign to improve neonatal survival through large-scale hands-on neonatal resuscitation training programmes, doctors said. The workshop was coordinated by Dr SK Mohanasundari and Dr Era Deepika Dayal. Faculty facilitators include Dr S. Thanigainathan, Ph.D. Gurrarsh Singh and Dr BVP Divya were present. Experts emphasized that timely and effective neonatal resuscitation plays an important role in reducing neonatal deaths and improving survival outcomes in the first few minutes after birth.
