Trinamool, BJP make final appeals as campaigning ends for first phase of polls in West Bengal

Campaigning for the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections ended on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Voting will be done 152 seats in 16 districts and around 3.60 crore voters will decide the fate of 1,452 candidates.
All districts in north Bengal and some districts in south Bengal will go to polls on Thursday, April 23, 2026. In the north, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinjapur and Malda districts will vote. In South Bengal, Murshidabad, Paschim Bardhaman, Birbhum, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Bankura, Purulia and Jhargram will go to polls.
