62-Year-Old Sentenced To 10 Years Imprisonment For Rape In Peddapalli

ACB arrests senior assistant taking bribes through digital payments

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday arrested a senior assistant and former in-charge of Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) for allegedly collecting illegal gratification through digital UPI payments in Peddapalli district.
The accused, identified as Manda Kiran Kumar, currently serving as in-charge SRO of Gangadhara mandal in Karimnagar district, was nabbed from his residence in Nizamabad.
The arrest followed a surprise check at the Peddapalli SRO office. Investigations have revealed that between October 27 and November 12, 2025, Kiran Kumar allegedly received ₹1,06,500 from his personal assistant Bittu (alias Ratna Kumar) through UPI transactions. It was reported that the amount in question was collected as bribes from applicants requesting property registration.
ACB officials said the officer acted dishonestly to gain undue personal benefit.
The accused is being produced before the Special Judge in charge of SPE and ACB cases at Karimnagar.
Ensuring the confidentiality of complainants, ACB urged the public to report bribe demands through toll-free number 1064 or social media platforms.

Tanuja murder triggers Nepalese worker checks

The investigation into the murder and robbery of retired IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Ray’s wife Tanuja in Jubilee Hills has led to unprecedented measures. For the first time, senior officials have instructed special teams of special branch and public order police to collect details of both employers and Nepali employees in all city areas.

Teams have already started collecting information about Nepali workers. District officers strongly warned employers to notify local police and send personal information and photographs before hiring. “Those employing Nepalis have been advised to be careful,” said a police officer.

Meanwhile, special teams investigating the case obtained vital clues from the relatives of the prime accused Kalpana, who was detained along with her colleagues in the city and across Maharashtra. Kalpana and her six accomplices allegedly killed Tanuja and escaped with 22 grams of gold and cash. Police sources said two suspects were detained in Pune, while the others are believed to be in Bangalore.

Investigators found that Kalpana had Aadhaar and voter ID cards identifying her as a worker from Pune before joining a businessman’s house in Lucknow as a maid. The investigation also revealed his involvement in production and forgery of identity documents in Pune, Lucknow and other states.

Chain thief gets five years’ RI

The 16th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Nampally on Tuesday sentenced Muthu Hari Krishna to five years rigorous imprisonment and fined him ₹25,000 after finding him guilty in a chain-snatching case.

On July 24, 2018, the defendant snatched a woman’s gold chain near Patarki Lodge and ran away. He was arrested by Shahalibanda police, who later recovered the stolen chain.

Detective inspector B. Narasimha Sanjay Reddy conducted a meticulous investigation and presented flawless evidence in the court. After considering the material, Justice G. Prabhakar convicted Hari Krishna and pronounced the sentence.

Shadnagar: Two Arrested for Killing Worker and Absconding with ₹ 50,000 Cash

Two people were arrested for allegedly killing 39-year-old laborer Palle Kasavulu, stealing ₹50,000 from him and his bike and dumping his body at an isolated place in Veerlapally. Kesavulu’s body was found dead on May 10 as a result of a blow to the head.

He had gone to Parigi to discuss a dispute regarding his grandfather’s agricultural land, for which he had borrowed ₹50,000 from the wife of his employer Srinivas Rao. Carrying the money, he reached the bus stop on his way home.

Kesavulu then went to a wine shop near Shadnagar bus stand where he contacted the prime accused Pullogovila Bazaranna. They drank together and Bazaranna noticed the money Kesavulu was carrying. A woman named Bainla Yadamma joined them near the wine shop.

Police said Bazaranna and Yadamma conspired to rob Kesavulu and took him on the victim’s motorcycle towards SRR Venture on Shadnagar-Veerlapally road around 10.30 pm. Gang Attacks Police and Film Set Cattle Transporters in Kothapet; Nine Arrested

Saroornagar police arrested nine persons for attacking cattle transporters and police personnel after stopping a vehicle carrying a bull at Kothapet junction early on Tuesday.

According to the police, the incident took place around 1.45 am when a group of people unlawfully stopped the truck carrying eight bulls along with their owners to Purani Haveli for a film shoot. Suspecting that the animals were being taken for slaughter, the crowd allegedly restrained, mistreated and attacked those in the building.

Police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the vehicle along with the cattle towards Fathullaguda Goshala for safe detention. However, when the vehicle reached near Chaitanyapuri U-turn, some members of the group followed the two-wheeler truck, stopped it on the road and hurled stones at the vehicle and police personnel.

While an inspector and other personnel were injured in the attack, the vehicle was also damaged. A case was registered under various sections of BNS. The detained suspects were arrested by the court and sent to prison. Police said efforts are continuing to capture the remaining suspects.

Two People Killed in Separate Incidents Under Choutuppal Police Limits

Two people died in separate incidents reported at Choutuppal police station on Tuesday. In the first incident, truck driver Bakkathatla Jangaiah (57) from Toopranpet died after his motorcycle collided with an unidentified person.
According to police, Jangaiah was traveling from Toopranpet to Hyderabad on his two-wheeler when the man suddenly left the road around 11 am. The bike hit him, causing them both to fall. Jangaiah suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot, police said. The pedestrian, who was injured in various parts, was taken to Choutuppal State Hospital by ambulance by citizens and received treatment. Based on a complaint filed by Jangaiah’s son Naresh, the police registered a case and launched an investigation.
In another incident, 36-year-old Kandagatla Niranjan Reddy, a tenant farmer, collapsed while cutting grass in an agricultural land in the Malkapuram revenue line around 8.30 am. A citizen noticed that he was lying unconscious and warned his family. He was transported to Choutuppal Government Hospital in a private vehicle, where doctors declared him dead. Police suspect that the death may have been caused by a heart attack or other health problems. A lawsuit was filed upon his wife’s complaint and the investigation is ongoing.

Three People Detained for Stealing ₹15 Lakh Cash Near Panjagutta Stamp Dealer

Three persons were detained for stealing the bag containing ₹ 15 lakh, which the complainant had placed on the chair of a stamp dealer who was busy buying stamps in Panjagutta.

On May 8, Panjagutta police received a complaint from Afshin Jadidi, a resident of Abids, stating that he had left his house on his scooter at 10.20 am carrying a bag containing ₹15 lakh cash to deposit in various banks on the instructions of his employees Naresh Deunani and K. Narendra Rao.

On the way, she stopped at a shop in Panjagutta and kept her bag on a plastic chair near the shop. Citing the complaint, Panjagutta detective inspector S. Nagaraju said that around 12.10 pm, an unidentified person stole the bag and ran away. The complainant suspected that someone might have followed him and committed theft. “We registered a case of theft and identified the accused from CCTV footage,” he said.
