Students must unite against drugs: Minister Bindu Krishna

Bindu Krishna, Minister of Women and Child Development, Labour, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Development, appealed to the student community to be active participants in the fight against the drug mafia that is trying to destroy the society. He was presiding over the distribution ceremony of ‘Focus Kollam’ Minister Excellence Award-2026 for talented students from Kollam constituency.
A clear sense of purpose is essential for students to be able to build a bright future, the minister said, adding that to ensure comprehensive development of the state, the government will establish new educational institutions and create better employment opportunities for future generations.
Inaugurating the event, MP Shafi Parambil said that students should move towards their future keeping in mind well-defined goals. He added that the state is always there to give wings to students’ dreams and provide them with maximum support.
Top achievers were honoured at the event, including students who secured full A-Plus in SSLC and Plus Two examinations, as well as students who secured full A1 or above 90% marks in Class 10 and Class 12 CBSE and ICSE examinations. During the event, the winners of Degree, Postgraduate (PG) and other professional examinations were also thanked. While Ramya Haridas MLA was the chief guest, Mayor NK Hafees, District Collector Annie Jula Thomas and Deputy Mayor Udaya Sukumaran were among those who spoke at the meeting.
