Tyler Adams says USMNT is ready to show out at 2026 home World Cup

All football players around the world dream of playing in the World Cup; This is the greatest chance of victory for future generations.

But playing the World Cup in your home country is a completely different thing, and the United States men’s national team will get that experience a month from now when it kicks off the 2026 FIFA World Cup at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

USMNT captain Tyler Adams experienced his first World Cup in 2022 when he traveled to Qatar with his teammates and coaches. They had some success but lost to the Netherlands in the last 16.

It may not be the outcome the United States wanted in Qatar, but Adams now knows that on home soil, the entire team is ready to compete against anyone who supports them across the country.

There is a lot of patriotic pride in this group.

“I think when we approach a game and you see the Stars and Stripes and the red, white and blue, it puts you in a patriotic mood,” Adams said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital, also noting his work with Scotts ahead of the World Cup. “This is the honor of representing the country.

“Everybody really comes together, whether they’re watching football or have never watched it before; there’s something about hosting an event in America. They always do it right. I can’t wait for our fans to come.”

The USA will begin its World Cup journey against Paraguay in Los Angeles on June 12 to begin Group D play. For experienced players like Adams, the pressure of the World Cup is something they are used to. But as a team leader, he knows that those who are green for such matches will need some advice.

“You don’t want to get too ahead of yourself,” he said. “Being a little young and naive going into the first tournament, we were like, ‘Oh, what’s next? How do we get to the next level?’ I think we were like. You can’t worry about this because the situation is out of your control right now. This is a place where you can make an impact game by game, moment by moment, pass by pass. “I think for us it’s important to focus on the details of each game, but take it one game at a time.”

Of course, every player wants to enjoy the moment of playing in the World Cup, whether it is their first or last time taking to the field for the tournament. Adams admitted it was difficult to do so due to the attention to detail and heated competition, telling his teammates that “it was all over in the blink of an eye.”

But there’s no doubt how special this will be for those representing the Stars and Stripes. They will play group stage matches in Los Angeles and Seattle, but they also want to advance to the knockout stage, which will take place in other cities in the US.

Adams stated that he was looking forward to seeing the Americans in Los Angeles and Seattle, saying, “I think it’s nice because we’ve played in both of these environments before and both cities have incredible fan bases in sports in general.” “So I think the support will be there. Hopefully it will be a US-dominated crowd, like it should be for our own World Cup. I’m excited to play in front of my friends and family.”

GROWING THE GAME WITH SCOTTS

Speaking of growing the game, Scotts, North America’s leading lawn care brand, partnered with Adams for its “Keep It Real” initiative aimed at expanding access to youth sports and green spaces, raising over $432,000 in funding while partnering with “Every Kid Sports” to help more than 2,000 kids in 48 states.

As part of this effort, emphasizing the value of natural grass for safer play, Scotts and Adams helped restore natural grass fields where the next generation can cultivate the game. In fact, one of them was his hometown’s field.

“When they came to me with this idea and this initiative, it was pretty simple. I think one of the biggest things I have to do now as a professional athlete is to give back to my community. However, I’m giving back to my community with the partnership where we had a field day last summer and restored the field I played on as a kid. It was so cool to come back home and see a brand that I work with support the ideas that I had and give back to that community. I’m really, really grateful for that, and we’re starting to do some really good things.”
