Churchville man charged in fatal crash on I-90

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Churchville man faces several charges after New York State Police say he shot and killed a Syracuse man on I-90 in the town of Stafford Friday night.
NYSP said the crash happened Friday around 8:50 p.m. near Mile Marker 384 on I-90. According to investigators, Patrick Hastings, 67, of Churchville, was driving eastbound on I-90 when he rear-ended a pickup truck, causing the truck to overturn.
The driver of the pickup, 56-year-old Scott Berberian of Syracuse, was thrown from his seat and was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police said Hastings failed field sobriety tests and provided a breath sample with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08%.
Hastings is charged with second-degree Vehicular Homicide and Driving While Intoxicated, among other traffic offenses.
The investigation is still ongoing.
