Telangana Among 16 States Selected for SIR Drive from May 30

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Thursday announced the rollout of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in 16 states, including Telangana and three union territories, in a phased manner from May 30.

The states and UTs where SIR will be conducted are Delhi, Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Telangana, Punjab, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Tripura, Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

In its statement, the EC said that the SIR schedule in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh will be announced later considering the weather conditions in the snow-covered regions. During SIR phase 3, more than 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers will go house to house to 36.73 crore voters.

SIR has already been conducted in Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

A “special revision” was made in Assam.
