Rottnest Island: Man in critical condition after shark attack at Geordie Bay

A man has been badly injured by a shark at Rottnest Island’s popular holiday destination Geordie Bay.

Emergency services were scrambled just before 10am.

RAC Rescue helicopter was sent to the scene.

It was learned that the condition of the person in his 30s was critical.

The Department for Primary Industries and Regional Development said it was alerted to the shark attack at 9.54am.

“DPIRD is working with local authorities and further information will be provided as it becomes available,” a spokesman said.

He urged people on the island to be more careful in the Geordie Bay area.
