Colt making his racing debut dies after a race at Laurel, the day before the Preakness

LAUREL, MD. (AP) — A 3-year-old colt who made his racing debut Friday died shortly after running in the first race at Laurel Park, a day before the track was set to host the Preakness.
The Maryland Racing Commission said Hit Zero died of an apparent heart attack. The cause of death will not be confirmed until autopsy findings are reviewed.

Hit Zero was the favorite for the 6-metre race but was eased towards the end and finished well behind the other horses. She is trained by Brittany Russell, who is ridden by her husband Sheldon.
