Serious Drinking Water Crisis In Palakottu Town; Minister Nimmala Reviews Situation

KAKINADA: Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu on Sunday asked the municipal authorities to take immediate action to resolve the drinking water crisis in Palakollu.

The Minister made a surprise visit to the Municipal Water Works facilities and checked the water levels in the drinking water tanks. He expressed anger that the authorities did not take preventive steps.

Rama Naidu assessed the current water levels in the reservoirs and estimated how many days the current supply would last. He instructed the authorities to make alternative arrangements for drinking water for the people and also to supervise the drilling of boreholes in case of war.

The Minister laid the foundation stone of various development works in Palakolu constituency at a cost of Rs 3.76 billion.

While visiting Mattaparru village in Poduru mandal, an argument broke out between Telugu Desam and YSRC workers. YSRC leaders in the village submitted a memorandum to the minister urging him to develop the Mattaparru road. Nimmala asked YSRC leaders why they did not start such studies in the past.

He said Rs 1.3 million has already been sanctioned for the road but the government was facing a financial crisis. He assured the public that if the road was not completed by 2029, he would build it with his own personal funds.
