Two Navy jets appear locked together in horrifying mid-air collision | US | News

Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho was quarantined following a plane crash on Sunday.

It was reported that two aircraft collided in mid-air during the Gunfighters Air Show before crashing to the ground. The jets involved are believed to be two Boeing EA-18G Growlers.

Shortly after the incident, Mountain Home Air Force Base released a statement on social media. “An aircraft incident occurred at Mountain Home Air Force Base during the Gunslinger sky air show,” they wrote in a post.

“Emergency responders are on scene. The investigation is ongoing and further details will be released as they become available.”

The base’s statement did not include information about the condition of the pilots involved in the incident. However, the Associated Press reported that all four crew members escaped unharmed.

Eyewitnesses on social media stated that they observed four parachutes descending after the collision, and that the crew jumped before the jets collided.

Footage shows thick, black smoke billowing into the air after two Navy jets crashed into each other.

The Gunfighter Skies Air Show is a free public aviation show hosted by the U.S. Air Force at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

The event aims to showcase military air power, celebrate aviation heritage and strengthen ties between the armed forces and the surrounding community.
