UK weather: Is a heatwave forecast for the Late May Bank Holiday weekend?

A heatwave in the UK is defined by the Met Office as at least three consecutive days with daily maximum temperatures exceeding a county-specific threshold, reflecting unusually warm weather at a particular time of year.
Heatwave threshold temperatures vary across the UK. In Greater London the temperature is 28 Celsius, while in Northern Ireland it is 25 Celsius.
It’s possible that a few places could meet the definition of a heat wave on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. At the moment counties such as Herefordshire and Worcestershire look likely.
But much depends on whether showers develop over the bank holiday weekend.
