Newsletter reveals unsettling details about accused child abuser Hamish Tait
A news release has emerged from where an accused predator worked in Sydney’s northwest.
Hamish Tait, 35, is charged with 329 offenses and is accused of producing child abuse material between 209 and 2025, working in childcare and early education centers in Sydney’s northwest.
So far detectives have identified 136 victims from 121 families across Sydney.
A news release from one of the child care centers where Tait worked in 2015 revealed an inside look at the suspect’s time at the center.
A “staff in focus” email sent to parents in July 2015 identified Mr Tait as “Mr Hamish”, who was then working as a team leader in the Cheeky Monkeys room at the Fit Kidz Center in Putney.
“For me, the best part of working with children is watching them connect with the world around them,” she wrote in the newsletter.
“Watching the moments when a child truly understands a concept or shows pure love for another is what drives me to work.
“Seeing their spirit grow every day during these events is truly a humbling thing to be a part of.”
Spending weekends with her fiancee, her dog, four-wheeling or at the market “gives us a chance to experience this amazing world with smiles and love,” she said.
The release said Mr Tait ran a “portrait and landscape photography business” and worked as a volunteer firefighter.
Mr Tait described himself as someone who is “passionate about Aboriginal cultures in Australia and is always looking for any opportunity to be part of something where I can learn more about a different culture.”
He said his interests “connect in some way to people and to the world, and those are the two most important things in life.”
