Medical shops to remain open in NTR district on May 20 during nationwide bandh

NTR District Drug Control Administration officials stated on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, that necessary arrangements have been made for uninterrupted delivery of medicines to the public in the district, taking into account the nationwide bandh proposed on Wednesday, May 20.

The All India Organization of Chemists and Pharmacists (AIOCD) has called for a bandh against illegal online sales of medicines. NTR District Chemists and Pharmacists Association and Krishna District Wholesale Drug Trade Association are participating in the bandh.

Officials said that medical stores in key centers located in hospital premises, clinics and nursing homes, generic medical stores and MedPlus stores operating in the NTR area will remain open.

Additionally, all drug inspectors in NTR district have been instructed to closely monitor the field situation and coordinate with medical store operators and hospital authorities to ensure uninterrupted supply and availability of medicines during the bandh period. Emergency contact numbers and lists of operating medical stores are also provided for the convenience of the public.
