Meghan breaks royal rules with ‘unprecedented’ wedding photos | Royal | News

Meghan Markle has shared a series of candid, never-before-seen photos from her wedding to Prince Harry to mark the couple’s eighth anniversary, with King Charles’ former butler describing the images as “unprecedented” for a senior royal wedding.

In a carousel of two pictures released to mark the date, the Duchess gave her followers a look behind the scenes of one of the most watched weddings in recent history, from silent scenes in St George’s Chapel to Elton John giving a special performance for guests and the newlyweds taking to the stage for their first dance.

Speaking on behalf of OLBG, King Charles’ former butler Grant Harrold said that the images broke new ground. “I don’t think we’ve ever seen such visceral scenes of a royal wedding before. It’s unprecedented,” he said.

What did King Charles’ butler say about Meghan’s wedding photos?

According to Marie Claire, Harrold pointed out that no photos from Prince William and the Princess of Wales’s 2011 wedding ceremony have been made public; It’s a contrast that underlines just how extraordinary Meghan’s decision to share the images was. He also noted that the images “do not feature any members of the Royal Family,” an observation that adds an intriguing dimension to the publication.

The former butler explained that royal families operate under strict rules regarding photography. “The royal family has strict ‘no cameras’ rules at their weddings to prevent such incidents,” he said. “And it wasn’t just for weddings. If we caught someone using a camera in the royal house, we had to take the phone and delete the photos. They were really strict about that.”

He described the anniversary images as “intimate and personal moments” and said that while they were “beautiful photos they’re also very interesting.”

What do Harry and Meghan look like in their wedding photos?

Evaluating especially the first dance images, Harrold said that the couple spread joy. “Harry and Meghan seem really happy and in love, which is lovely to see. Harry is acting like a total ‘Harry’ which is lovely,” he said. The former butler described the Duke of Sussex as “very witty and funny” and a “silly character”, adding: “This is the Harry I remember from behind the scenes.”

Are royal wedding photos sparking controversy for the first time?

The announcement comes ahead of a separate royal wedding story: Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips will marry Harriet Sperling on June 6. This isn’t the first time royal wedding photos have made headlines; Phillips courted controversy in 2008 after licensing photos of her first wedding to Hello! Magazine’s photos include photos of a young Kate Middleton having fun on the dance floor with other royals, unaware that the photos would be published. Unlike senior royal staffers, Phillips does not have a title.
