Shortly before 10 a.m. an expert allgasThe building’s gas supplier had secured the leak.
Police established an exclusion zone around the building along George Street between Queen Street and Elizabeth Street. One lane of traffic and the sidewalk in front of the building were closed.
Atmospheric tests of all gases showed that gas levels in the building had fallen to safe levels before 10.30am, but a fire crew remained in the building to ventilate the second floor.
