BRS Helped One Family Amass Wealth: Bhatti

What are you doing? Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday alleged that the previous BRS government neglected welfare and allowed a single family to accumulate wealth during its 10-year tenure.

Addressing a felicitation meeting held in Khammam for Stambhadri Urban Development Authority (Suda) chairman Puvvala Durga Prasad, he said that Telangana was achieved through long agitation and sacrifices by the youth and students, but the BRS government failed to meet the demands of the people after coming to power. He said people had been deprived of the benefits of welfare and development programs for a decade and had “taught a lesson” to the BRS by bringing the Congress to power in the 2024 elections.

He said the Congress had voted on clear promises of prosperity and development and reiterated that the government was committed to fulfilling its poll assurances.

The Deputy Chief Minister said party leaders and members who worked for the Congress between 2014 and 2023, when the Congress was not in power, will get opportunities and recognition. He noted that although some leaders left the party during this period, the staff remained and worked to strengthen the party.

Indiramma Bheema said the insurance scheme will be launched on June 2 and will cover 1.15 crore families with insurance cover of ₹ 5 lakh each. Officials will conduct household visits to collect details of beneficiaries.

Listing out the welfare measures, he said crop loan waiver, Rs 500 per quintal bonus for quality paddy field, free electricity for up to 200 units, free travel for women in TGSRTC buses and Indiramma housing will benefit poor families and support their economic development.

He reiterated the government’s target of turning one crore women into ‘crorepatis’ through self-help groups and stated that interest-free loans worth ₹ 20,000 crore are being provided every year and can be increased to ₹ 1 lakh crore if necessary.

Referring to farmer deaths during the previous regime, he said families had struggled to receive minimum financial support, and the new scheme aimed to prevent a recurrence of such situations.

Alleging that the BRS was spreading fake propaganda on social media, he attributed the opposition’s actions to the increasing public support for the government due to the implementation of social welfare schemes and asked the party cadres to oppose it.
