A woman was reportedly sexually assaulted in broad daylight near a canal; Police have launched an urgent appeal for anyone who can assist the investigation to come forward. West Midlands Police confirmed the incident took place near Fox’s Lane in Wolverhampton at around 3.15pm on Sunday.

The Birmingham Main Line Canal was subsequently cordoned off between locks 11 and 12 while officers investigated the incident. Images from the scene showed police tapes throughout the area, with a police officer standing by.

Police have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.

A police spokesman told BlackCountryLive: “We are investigating after a woman reported being sexually assaulted near Foxs Lane, Wolverhampton, at around 3.15pm yesterday (Sunday).

“Officers are carrying out investigations, including forensic examinations.
