Blue Ribbon Cup
Tonight St Kilda and Hawthorn will compete for the 27th annual Blue Ribbon Cup, which honors the bravery and sacrifice of all Victorian police officers, especially those who fall in the line of duty. First established in 1999, the trophy pays tribute to Victoria Police members Sergeant Gary Silk and Senior Constable Rodney Miller, who were killed in the line of duty at Moorabbin on 16 August 1998.
At the end of the match, the players of the winning team will be awarded commemorative Blue Ribbon medals, and the best player of each team will be awarded the Ipek-Miller Memorial Medal.
