Met Office weather maps show 51 counties hit by rain downpour on Friday – full list | Weather | News

This follows a period when temperatures remained above the official heatwave threshold in some parts of the country, particularly in the south. The mercury is expected to reach 33 degrees today in the southern regions, 29 degrees tomorrow and 29 degrees again on Saturday. The Met Office announced that maximum temperatures of 29, 24 and 24 degrees are expected in the north over three days.
Despite the ongoing heat, Meteorology has had to issue many storm warnings in recent days. Now, graphs from the national weather service show more precipitation is on the way tomorrow.
Graphs show heavy rain sweeping through almost all of Scotland by midday, while a band of rain also extends from the south-west of England to Lincolnshire. This group is expected to move southeastwards throughout the day, reaching London at 5pm. In total, Met Office charts show some 51 counties in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland should see some rain.
Ross-shire and Cromartyshire
Temperatures will continue to cool and get fresher as the hot weather ends on Friday, the Met Office said in its latest weather forecast. “Most people will see a noticeable drop off from the warmest conditions of recent days, but still above average for most, with 28C peaks increasingly confined to the far south-east,” forecasters said.
“Rain will initially be seen over parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland before moving northwards. Much of England and Wales will be brighter and drier by Friday, although some clouds and scattered rain may persist in central and southern areas.”
Met Office Chief Forecaster Chris Bulmer said: “We are now starting to see this spell of very warm weather breaking. Parts of the south-east could still reach highs of 32C on Thursday, while many areas will start to feel fresher conditions towards Friday and the weekend as a weak cold front moves south-east and settles further across much of the UK on Saturday.
“As the heat begins to subside, the weather will also become more variable, with some showers and thunderstorms possible. By the end of the week, temperatures will be much closer to average for that time of year, accompanied by precipitation for many throughout the weekend and into the start of next week.”
