Police investigate suspects with similar criminal patterns in Chevella murder-cum-robbery case

A day after the brutal murder and robbery of a 48-year-old woman in Chevella, police have begun investigating the background of criminals involved in similar crimes and are investigating suspects known for similar modus operandi.

The victim, identified as Erukali Maisamma, a resident of Dharamsagar village in Chevella, was found lying in a pool of blood in government land at Erlapally village on Chevella-Shankarpally road on Wednesday.

According to police, unidentified assailants killed Maisamma and cut off her feet to steal the silver anklets she was wearing.

Police officials said this is the first reported case in the Chevella area. However, investigators identified several accused who were previously involved in similar robbery cases in different areas. Some of them are currently out on bail and are now being screened, police said.

The teams investigate the background of these suspects and also examine the victim’s daily movements and interactions with people he knows.

Further investigation is ongoing.
