Mike Lee posts fake Fed Chair Powell resignation letter

Senator Mike Lee, R-utah, on Tuesday, shared a fake letter, apparently artificial intelligence, showing that Jerome Powell resigned as the federal reserve president, and hurriedly erased.
The fake letter to the “president” contained a altruistic sacrifice with non -English characters and a slightly shapeless depiction of a eagle and some unusual text.
“After too much reflection, July 22, 2025, I decided to resign from my position as the Chairman of the Federal Reserve System, which was effective at the closing of the work.”
Lee’s verified personal X account was published on @basedmikelee. journalists from Policy He took the screenshots of the article before deleting.

Powell did not resign.

Lee’s office did not immediately respond to CNBC’s comments requests.

The letter appeared because President Donald Trump had criticized Powell with criticism and called on his leadership role at the Central Bank to resign.
Trump wants the Fed to sharpen interest rates to encourage economic growth. However, so far the Fed refused to reduce rates this year.
Benny Johnson, a leading conservative media personality, briefly published his fake Powell letter, but accepted the mistake in a next mission.
“Jerome Powell letter is fake. Please don’t share. I’m sorry. A bad look,” Johnson wrote.
