Woman and man are charged after mother, 30, was shot dead as innocent bystander on night out

Two men have been charged over the shooting death of a ‘completely innocent’ mother in Sheffield on Monday morning.

Digital creator and photographer Shanice Brookes, 30, died after being shot outside One Four One pub in the city center at around 2.45am.

The shooting followed a confrontation in the street that did not involve Shanice.

Jemele Rhone, 30, and Deiryen Dyce, 32, charged following Brookes’ death, will appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Rhone, of Outram Road, Sheffield, was charged with murder, possession of a firearm and possession of criminal property, while Dyce, of Ellesmere Road North, Sheffield, was charged with assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, possession of drugs with intent to supply and possession of criminal property.

A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released and is no longer a suspect, South Yorkshire Police said.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles said the mother-of-one was ‘a completely innocent bystander who should be able to enjoy a night out in our city without fear of not returning home safely’.

He added: ‘Shanice’s family, including her young son, are now faced with the reality that they may never see her again.
