Three initiatives from Kerala chosen as best practices in Union Panchayati Raj Ministry compendium

Compendium of Best Practices from States and Union Territories on Strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions (2026), prepared by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, has selected three projects implemented by the Local Self Government department under the previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government as best practices worth emulating.

The brief recognizes the Digi Kerala digital literacy project, Universal Palliative Care initiatives and K-SMART digital service delivery practices as best practices. Former Local Self Government Minister MB Rajesh said in a Facebook post on Thursday, June 4, 2026, that the recognitions at the national level are proof that the achievements of the LDF government are difficult to erase despite various attempts to tarnish its image.

“As a Minister in the LDF government, I take great pride in being a part of the work behind these historic achievements. This proves that even political opponents cannot resist acknowledging the LDF government’s contributions and achievements beyond electoral victories and defeats,” he said.
