Take final call over allotting land to school at Tarnaka: HC to government

The Telangana High Court on Friday said it would not hesitate to summon the Chief Secretary if appropriate orders are not issued to allocate five acres of government land to the School Education department for the construction of a government school at Hanumannagar in Tarnaka, Hyderabad.
Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao from the vacation bench of HC, after hearing the writ petition filed by the parents of some school students, said that the decision in the matter should be given by the next date of hearing. The petitioners informed the bench that the existing school is being run from type D quarters of Telangana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation in Tarnaka.
The petitioners alleged that the children were left in a difficult situation as both the neighborhoods lack basic amenities. Parents of school children and members of Vijaya Dairy Prabhutva (Prabhutva Patashala Shashvatha Bhavana Sadhana Samithi) made a representation to the government for allotment of two type A wards to run the school.
The two A-type neighborhoods had been vacant since the federation’s operations were shifted to Ravirala village on the outskirts of the city. Originally the government school was in Seetafalmandi. It was shifted to Tarnaka in 1961 upon the request of the Federation to meet the educational needs of its children and those living in the settlements around Tarnaka.
Ever since the Federation shifted its operations to Ravirala, most of its 42 acres of land in Tarnaka remained unused. The Telangana government had taken a political decision to build 100 Government Schools. The petitioners submitted that five acres of the same land of the federation could be allocated for the construction of such a Government School by upgrading the Seetafalmandi school currently operated in Tarnaka.
