Lead prosecutor on Comey’s ‘seashells’ case withdraws without explanation
The attorney general has been tasked with overseeing the prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey stemming from his employment. seashell mail The Justice Department withdrew the case from allegations that it posed a threat to President Donald Trump, according to a court filing.
Matthew Petracca was the only prosecutor from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina assigned to the case when it was sealed late last month.
However, on Friday evening, the Justice Department notified the court that Petracca had been replaced by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy Severo.

The ministry did not provide any explanation for the move in the high-profile case.
Comey’s lawyers are expected to make a strong push to have the case dismissed before it goes to trial with various legal challenges.
A Justice Department spokesman did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
