Tamil Nadu: AIADMK whip Krishnamoorthy meets Governor, seeks action against ‘horse-trading’ by TVK

Chennai: AIADMK whip Agri SS Krishnamoorthy met Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Lok Bhavan here on Saturday and demanded that he take action against the alleged “horse trading” by the ruling TVK following the resignation of four AIADMK MLAs.

AIADMK legislators – K Maragatham Kumaravel (Maduranthakam Assembly constituency), S Jayakumar (Perundurai), P Sathyabama (Dharapuram) and Esakki Subaya (Ambasamudram) resigned as MLAs and joined TVK.

They were among the rebel AIADMK MPs who voted in favor of the TVK government in the Assembly during the floor test on May 13.

In a petition submitted to the Governor, the AIADMK alleged that “large amount of money was being transacted to lure party MLAs” and demanded a CBI probe, a party statement said.


AIADMK Rajya Sabha member M Dhanapal accompanied Krishnamoorthy.
Talking to reporters later, Krishnamoorthy said his party had demanded a CBI investigation into TVK’s alleged “horse trading”. “We hope that the Governor will take action regarding our complaint,” he said.Read more: Velumani visits constituency after AIADMK ceasefire, Shanmugam is yet to clarify his stand

The AIADMK whip also expressed concern over the Speaker’s “swift” acceptance of resignation letters from AIADMK MLAs who later joined the TVK.
